Factors affecting the performance of chrome plating on hydraulic chrome rod

After the chrome treatment process, the performance and service life of the hydraulic chrome rod can be effectively improved, but the quality of the chrome layer will be affected by some factors. The first is hydrogen absorption. In general, the hardness of the chrome plating layer is high and there is always internal stress, which is caused by hydrogen absorption and lattice changes during chrome plating. The effect of hydrogen absorption on the chrome layer can be explained by the combination of hydrogen and metal and the mechanism.

 

That is to say, in the chrome plating layer of the hydraulic chrome rod, a considerable amount of hydrogen is often contained. Moreover, the amount of hydrogen generally in the chrome plating layer increases as the current density increases. Secondly, the inclusions contained therein also affect the quality of the chrome layer.

 

In addition, during the chrome plating of the hydraulic chrome rod, the composition of the actual bath will also affect the quality of the final chrome layer. When the ratio of chromic acid to catalyst in the plating solution is constant, if the chromic acid content is increased, the hardness of the chrome plating layer is decreased; when the chromic acid content is lowered, the hardness is increased. This situation indicates that due to the change of the composition of the plating solution, when the thick chromium layer is plated, the portions of the plating layer may have different hardnesses, thereby generating high internal stress.
