High frequency quenching is mostly used for surface quenching of industrial metal parts. It is a kind of metal heat treatment method that causes the workpiece surface to produce a certain induction current, rapidly heats the surface of parts, and then rapidly quenching.

Working principle of High frequency rod:

Induction heating heat treatment equipment is mainly composed of power supply equipment, quenching machine and inductor. There are two kinds of high frequency current supply equipment: electron tube, high frequency generator and SCR converter. Medium frequency current supply equipment is a generator set. General power equipment can only output a frequency of current, some devices can change the current frequency, or can directly use 50 Hz power frequency induction heating.

The choice of power equipment relates to the depth of the heating layer required by the workpiece. If the heating layer is deep, the power equipment with lower current and lower frequency shall be used. The workpiece with shallow heating layer shall be equipped with higher current and higher frequency power supply. Another condition for selecting the power supply is the power of the equipment. As the heating surface area increases, the power supply needs to be increased accordingly. When the heating surface area is too large or the power supply is insufficient, the continuous heating method can be adopted to make the workpiece and inductor move relatively, heating in front and cooling at the back. But it is better to heat the entire heating surface at once. In this way, the hardened surface can be tempered by using the residual heat of the core of the workpiece, thereby simplifying the process and saving the electric energy.

The depth of induction hardening surface hardening layer depends on the frequency of alternating current, generally high frequency, shallow heating depth, hardening layer depth is shallow. The relationship between the frequency of F and the heating depth, has the following formula: 8 =20/ V f (20 ~ C); 8 =500/ root f (800 degrees C).
Type: F is the frequency, the unit is Hz; the delta is the heating depth, the unit is millimeters (mm).
Induction heating surface quenching has many advantages, such as good surface quality, low brittleness, difficult oxidation, decarburization and small deformation on the surface of quenching. Therefore, induction heating equipment has been widely used in the heat treatment of metal surface.
