Chrome plating refers to chrome plating, which is generally referred to as hard chrome plating on industrial machinery. Metallic chromium is easily passivated in the air and forms a very thin passivation film on the surface.


In this way, the contact between the material and the outside world can be effectively insulated, which means that the oil cylinder piston rod will not rust as long as the chrome layer is not worn. The chrome layer has a very high hardness. Depending on the composition of the bath and the process conditions, the hardness of the chrome plating of oil cylinder piston rod is generally up to HRC58~HRC62. The chrome plating layer has good heat resistance, and the gloss and hardness are not significantly changed when heated below 500 °C.


After chrome plating, oil cylinder piston rod has strong corrosion resistance, mainly because its surface chrome plating has good chemical stability, and it does not work in alkali, sulfide, nitric acid and most organic acids. Moreover, in the visible range, the reflection capacity of chromium is about 65%, which is between silver (88%) and nickel (55%), and because chromium does not change color, it can maintain its reflection ability for a long time and is superior to silver and silver. nickel.
